MATHEMATICS

MATHS AT ESKDALE

 

Students will have the opportunity to work in pairs and small groups, as well as individually, to solve a variety of challenging problems 

The main areas of Mathematics are:- Number, Algebra, Shape and Space, Handling Data and Using & Applying Mathematics.

Students are grouped according to their ability. The class size varies from year to year. There are three 1 hour lessons each week.

Homework is set weekly and tasks are set appropriate to the age group and year.

 

YEAR 8 and YEAR 9 ABLE, GIFTED AND TALENTED

Students have the opportunity to attend weekly after school sessions to enable them to take G.C.S.E. Foundation Level Statistics examination at the end of Year 9.

Mathematics staff visit and liaise with all local Primary Schools to ensure proper progression from KS2 to KS3. Primary Schools visit our school to take part in Mathematical Thinking Skills days.

Students may take part in orienteering and field work activities as part of cross curricular days

 

BE PREPARED!!

Always bring the following to

EVERY Mathematics lesson: - a pen, pencil, rubber and ruler. a calculator.

All of the above items may be purchased from the Library shop at very reasonable prices
