Currently the history department at Eskdale is taking part in a QCA
Key Stage 3 exemplification of standards project with 32 other
schools around the country. In this project our students will learn
about intercultural understanding in the proposed Programme of
Studies for Foundation Subjects, through the teaching of the
Holocaust.

Emphasis will be placed on improving literacy, particularly writing
skills, and the development of personal, learning and thinking
skills with opportunities being planned for students to

participate effectively in lessons which affect both the school
and wider the wider community;
engage in collaborative work activities with each other;
manage their own learning;
think creatively by considering how global problems today may be
resolved.

Assessment for learning will also be addressed through individual,
peer and teacher feedback, where students will be able to reflect on
their learning and set realistic goals for self improvement.
